Oakland, CA (September 11, 2024) One person tragically lost their life in a collision in Oakland on Tuesday afternoon, September 10th, 2024. The deadly crash happened on Interstate 580 at the off ramp for Seminary Avenue, just before 1:00 p.m.
A Toyota Prius and another vehicle were both traveling on Interstate 580 when they suddenly collided. The impact sent the vehicles into the guardrail and officers reported that at least 50 feet of guardrail was damaged in the accident.

The California Highway Patrol arrived at the scene and said the Toyota had severe damage to every area of the vehicle. The other vehicle also sustained major damage, according to reports, and officers said the guardrail needed to be replaced. Reports indicated that two people inside one of the vehicles were found with bloody faces. Tragically, they also found one person with fatal injuries. Officials pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
One of the vehicles came to a stop in the middle of the roadway and was blocking the Seminary Avenue off-ramp. A tow truck was called to the scene to remove at least one of the damaged vehicles, following the investigation at the scene. Officers are working to determine what happened on I-580 in Oakland that afternoon. They are also working to uncover who was at fault.
