Lodi, CA (August 29, 2024) A two-vehicle collision on Highway 99 in Lodi occurred on Friday morning, August 23rd, 2024. The collision left off-duty firefighter, Vath Touch, with injuries, according to reports. The accident occurred around 9:42 a.m. near Armstrong Road and Harley Lane. The collision ended in confrontation between the two drivers, officers reported.

Initial reports indicated that Touch was heading to work on Highway 99 when another vehicle came up behind him at a high rate of speed. The driver of the other vehicle was driving aggressively and erratically, reports indicated, obviously wanted Touch to pull over and let him pass. The two vehicles collided, according to reports. The aggressive driver got out of his vehicle and began yelling at Touch, still inside his car.

Officers with the California Highway Patrol quickly arrived at the scene and dissolved the situation. They discovered that the driver of the second vehicle was also an off-duty firefighter for the Alameda County Fire Department. The firefighter has been placed on paid administrative leave during the investigation.
