(Los Angeles, CA) A woman was killed early Sunday, March 15, in a three-vehicle fiery crash on the northbound 110 Freeway collision near downtown Los Angeles.

The California Highway Patrol reported the incident occurred at 1:50 a.m. on the northbound Harbor Freeway at the Third Street on-ramp. Three vehicles were involved in the multi-vehicle crash. One vehicle overturned and caught fire at the scene. Emergency responders arrived quickly to manage the incident. Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics pronounced the woman dead at the location. Another woman was transported to a hospital in critical condition. A third victim’s status was not immediately disclosed. Officers began documenting evidence and clearing the roadway debris.

The California Highway Patrol identified the deceased victim as Isla Solis Hernandez, 28, on Wednesday. Investigators did not immediately release the names of the other victims. Details about how the three vehicles collided remain under investigation. Police did not disclose information about speed or other contributing factors. The roadway was closed for several hours while crews cleared wreckage. The investigation into the incident continues as officers gather additional evidence.

Analysis of the Northbound 110 Freeway Collision

When a fatal multi-vehicle crash occurs on a downtown freeway, police examine traffic laws to identify contributing factors. They work without assigning blame at this investigation stage. These reviews focus on speed, spacing, and driver control on highways.

Officers may examine the Basic Speed Law. This law requires all drivers to travel at safe speeds. Speed must match traffic flow and roadway conditions. Downtown freeway areas with multiple on-ramps present unique driving challenges. The violent nature of the rollover and fire suggests significant speed involvement.

Authorities may also review the Following Too Closely Law. This law requires adequate spacing between vehicles to stop safely. Multi-vehicle collisions often result from improper following distances. Chain-reaction crashes happen when drivers follow too close. Freeway speeds make proper spacing critically important.

Police may examine the Safe Lane Changes Law. This law requires drivers to check visibility before changing lanes. Drivers must ensure movements can be made with reasonable safety. Downtown freeway areas have heavy traffic and reduced visibility. These laws help explain what caused the northbound 110 Freeway collision.

    Support for the Family

If you are related to Isla Solis Hernandez or the other victims, contact the California Highway Patrol. They can provide updates on the investigation status. You can request official accident reports when available. The coroner’s office has official identification information.

An attorney with freeway fatality experience can help the family. They can explain your legal rights and available options. They can assist with claims and liability matters. Losing a loved one in a fiery crash is devastating. Support from family, friends, and grief counseling is important during this time.
