Hollywood, CA (May 15, 2024) A serious car accident occurred in North Hollywood on the 170 Freeway on Wednesday, May 15th, leaving one person with serious injuries. The two-vehicle accident took place at 10:15 a.m., near Riverside Drive, causing authorities to close down the Riverside Drive off-ramp, according to reports.

A black Mercedes Benz SUV was heading south on the Hollywood 170 Freeway on Wednesday morning as traffic moved steadily along. A white Infiniti sedan was also traveling south on the 170 Freeway and, for reasons unknown, the two vehicles collided in the southbound lanes. Following the collision, they blocked traffic as their wrecked vehicles sat in the southbound lanes of the highway. Witnesses at the scene began calling 911 to report the accident, reports indicated.

The California Highway Patrol received the call just after 10:15 a.m. Officers hurried to the scene with their lights flashing and found that traffic was beginning to back up in the southbound lanes of the freeway. The Infiniti and the Mercedes Benz both sustained significant damage in the collision and a field of debris surrounded the vehicles. Officers quickly made their way to the vehicles where they found at least one person with serious injuries.

Paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department arrived at the scene and loaded the victim into an ambulance. With lights flashing and sirens blaring, the ambulance hurried to the nearest hospital so the victim could receive the care they needed following this serious collision.

Officers are working to not only determine what happened on the Hollywood 170 Freeway, but also to figure out who was at fault in this collision. They also had to call tow trucks to come to the scene and remove both of the damaged vehicles off the freeway. Glass and debris had to be cleaned up as well.
