Apple Valley, CA (June 19, 2024) A cloud of sadness fell over the community of Apple Valley on Saturday, June 15th, as news spread of a car accident that claimed a life. 28-year-old Markell Lister was tragically killed in this two vehicle collision. The fatal crash occurred at the intersection of Highway 18 and Central Road just after 7:00 p.m., officers reported.
Lister was driving an orange Ford Fiesta on Central Road, heading north. As he approached State Highway 18, a black Audi SQ5 was heading east towards Central Road. The Audi was driven by 27-year-old Konstanti Markrygiannis in the no. 1 lane, according to reports. The two vehicles approached the intersection at the same time, and initial reports determined that the Audi slammed into the side of the Ford Fiesta. The impact from the collision caused the Ford to roll several times before it finally came to a stop. As the dust settled, the Ford could be seen in a dirt lot near the northeast corner of the intersection. Both vehicles sustained major damage and air bags were deployed in both vehicles during the collision.

The San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department arrived at the scene and quickly went to the vehicles to see if anyone was in need of medical care. The Ford was smashed with bent wheels and a busted windshield. Officers found the driver, identified as Markell Lister, unresponsive behind the wheel. Though they were ready to give life-saving measures, they knew it was too late and nothing could be done. He had been killed in the collision and, sadly, officers pronounced Lister dead at the scene.
The Audi had received major damage to its front end and the hood had nearly been ripped off the vehicle. There is currently no information as to whether anyone inside the Audi was injured in this collision, according to reports.
Officers investigated the scene and are working to determine what exactly happened in that intersection on Saturday evening. The vehicles involved in this collision had to be hauled from the scene by tow trucks and crews worked as fast as they could to clean up the glass and debris.
