Lancaster, CA (August 6, 2024) A tragic accident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, August 3rd, in Lancaster. 28-year-old Madelyn Gonzalez was a passenger in a vehicle that struck a pole. The collision claimed her life and left the driver with injuries, officers reported. The fatal collision took place around 3:15 a.m. at the intersection of Lancaster Boulevard and Division Street.
It was dark at 3:15 a.m. as a silver sedan drove through the town of Lancaster. For reasons that remain unknown, the vehicle swerved, leaving the roadway, as it headed north on Division Street. As the vehicle approached the intersection of Lancaster Boulevard and Division Street, it collided with a pole on the side of the road, bringing the vehicle to a dramatic stop. The front end of the vehicle was completely smashed in following the accident, officers reported.
Emergency personnel arrived at the scene and hurried to give medical aid to anyone in need. Unfortunately, the passenger, 28-year-old Madelyn Gonzalez, had been killed in the accident. She was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Detective Jorge Diaz. The driver of the vehicle was found with serious injuries, according to reports. They were rushed to Antelope Valley Medical Center by ambulance, where they remain in critical condition.
Detective Jorge Diaz said they are working to determine what exactly caused this devastating collision in Lancaster. They gathered every piece of evidence they could find and continue to work the case. Following the collision, the destroyed vehicle had to be hauled from the scene by a tow truck, reports indicated. Crews began cleaning up the debris and glass that were left behind. Officers have asked that anyone who might have any information in regards to this fatal collision, contact the L.A.
