Lucerne Valley, CA (February 2, 2024) As the sun set in Lucerne Valley on Thursday evening, a community grappled with the reality of loss following a tragic head-on collision. 20-year-old Luamata Finau Halaholo of West Covina, was killed in a head-on collision on State Route 247 (Old Woman Springs Road) that left 3 others injured and a family searching for answers.

It was right after 4:00 p.m. when two vehicles collided, head-on, at the intersection of Post Office Road and State Route 247. Firefighters arrived at the scene right around 4:12 p.m. and discovered two sedans that had obviously collided. Both vehicles had sustained major front end damage and debris, glass and even fluids were everywhere. The red sedan came to a rest on the highway, blocking a lane of traffic, while the black sedan was sitting several feet from the highway in a grassy field.

We at Accident News Now offer our encouragement and support. We know this is a difficult time as you deal with the uncertainties resulting from this terrible incident. If you or a loved one were recently hurt, Report My Car Accident can connect you with a law firm that specializes in your case.

Emergency crews hurried to both vehicles to give medical aid to anyone in need. As dark clouds moved into the area, the fire fighters found two people inside the red sedan who were both severely injured in the crash. Officers said that the woman kept saying she couldn’t feel her legs. They were both loaded into an ambulance and rushed to a local trauma center to receive treatment.

In the black sedan, first responders discovered that Halaholo, who was in the front passenger seat, was trapped inside the vehicle. Paramedics performed life-saving measures on Halaholo, but despite their best efforts, the young man succumbed to his injuries. Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene. The sun lowered, covering the scene in darkness, as firefighters worked for hours to extricate Halaholo’s body from the damaged sedan.

The driver of the black sedan was also injured. He was given care at the scene by first responders before he was transported to a hospital for treatment, according to authorities.

Officers are investigating this fatal head-on collision to determine what caused this accident and who was at fault. All of us at Accident News Now extend our deepest condolences to the family of Luamata Halaholo during this terrible time of loss.
