Fresno County, CA (May 20, 2024) A fatal accident in Fresno County claimed the lives of 30-year-old Lizbeth Sanchez and 38-year-old Santiago Martinez Ceja. The tragedy took place at the intersection of De Wolf Avenue and East North Avenue, not too far from Sanger, reports indicated. The two-vehicle collision occurred at approximately 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 16th.

It was a Thursday afternoon in California as motorists traveled along Fresno County roads. A white Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck was heading east on North Avenue when a red Mitsubishi, heading north, drove through the intersection. The Chevy pickup collided with the Mitsubishi in the middle of the intersection. Officers aren’t sure if the Mitsubishi ran the stop sign or if the vehicle stopped before hurrying through the intersection.

Emergency crews raced to the scene with sirens wailing and lights flashing. They hurried to the two seriously damaged vehicles and discovered both occupants of the Mitsubishi unresponsive. Paramedics were ready to begin life-saving measures, but sadly, both the driver and the front seat passenger were killed in this collision. With heavy hearts, authorities pronounced both Sanchez and Ceja at the scene and called for a coroner.

The driver and passenger in the Chevy pickup had sustained moderate to serious injuries in the collision, according to reports. Paramedics transported both victims to a local hospital, via ambulance, to receive treatment. They are both expected to make a full recovery.

Investigators gathered evidence and took statements from witnesses at the scene. They are working to figure out what exactly caused this deadly collision in Fresno County. Officers requested tow trucks to come to the scene and remove the two badly damaged vehicles for the roadway and debris had to be cleaned from the area as well.
