Fresno, California (January 30, 2024) A devastating two-vehicle collision in Fresno on Sunday, January 28th, claimed the lives of two men and injured another. Authorities reported that 68-year-old Joe Herrera Jr. and 41-year-old Ramirez Villalobos both lost their lives in this fatal accident. It happened at the intersection of Clinton Avenue and Marks Avenue right around 2:00 a.m., authorities said.
The deadly collision involved a pickup truck and a car, according to the Fresno Police Department. Initial reports indicate that the car and the pickup entered the intersection at the same time and the pickup collided with the car. Police officers said that Joe Herrera Jr. was driving the car and Villabobos was in the pickup. However, at this time, it is unclear if he was a passenger or the driver.
Police officers with the Fresno Police Department quickly arrived at the scene along with paramedics to find two badly damaged vehicles in the middle of the intersection. The damage was illuminated by the buzzing street lights above as officers checked vehicles to see if anyone needed medical attention. Paramedics jumped into action and attempted life-saving measures on those involved, but sadly, Herrera Jr. and Villalobos were both pronounced dead at the scene.
