(Cabazon, CA) Two people were injured in an Interstate 10 crash Monday afternoon, April 6, on the eastbound lanes.

Riverside County Fire Department crews responded around 2:05 p.m. to eastbound Interstate 10 just east of the Main Street overpass. Investigators said three vehicles were involved in the crash, which caused traffic disruption in the area. Emergency responders worked to assess injuries and clear the roadway.

Two suffered minor injuries and were transported to a hospital for treatment. Eight additional individuals were evaluated at the scene but declined further medical care. Authorities have not released identifying details about those involved. That information remained unknown as the investigation continued.

The No. 1 lane of the eastbound freeway was temporarily closed while crews worked at the scene. Officials have not said what led to the collision. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities review the circumstances.

Overview On The Interstate 10 Crash

When a multi-vehicle crash occurs on a freeway, investigators review traffic laws to understand contributing factors. These reviews focus on following distance, speed, and driver awareness without assigning fault prematurely.

Because multiple vehicles were involved, officers may examine the Following Distance Law. This law requires drivers to maintain a safe distance from vehicles ahead. In freeway traffic, limited spacing can quickly lead to chain-reaction collisions. Investigators will consider whether drivers had enough time and distance to react safely.

If speed is a concern, authorities may review the Basic Speed Law. This law requires drivers to travel at speeds that are safe for roadway and traffic conditions. Afternoon traffic patterns can vary, which affects reaction time and stopping distance. Investigators may evaluate whether speed contributed to the crash.

When lane positioning is involved, officers may also consider the Unsafe Lane Change Law. This law requires drivers to ensure movements can be made safely before changing lanes. Sudden or unsafe lane changes can increase the risk of collisions. These factors may help explain what led to the Interstate 10 crash.

    Advice for the Family

You may also consider speaking with a qualified attorney who can explain your options. In addition, support from family, friends, and medical professionals can be important during recovery.
