(Mesa, Arizona) A pick-up truck and a SUV both crashed near Stapley Drive and 7th Avenue on August 9th.
Idolinda and Romero Apolinar and Gloria Apolinar Matias were both in one vehicle. One of them died later at a local hospital while one died on scene. Two others involved were injured.
Stapley Drive was closed but later re-opened.
Police say that speed may have been a factor.
Investigation is still in process.
Speed Analysis On Stapley Drive and 7th Avenue
Because police say that the speed may have played a factor in the collision, investigators may look into the Excessive Speeds law (A)( 2). This law discusses that a person should not increase the speed limit in a residential district or business with more than 20 miles per hour, or increase speed by 45 miles per hour than the no posted speed limit.
They may look at (3) of the code law which discusses exceeding the posted speed limit by 20 miles or more per hour in other locations. This law discusses that if you violate subsection (A) of the law you are guilty of class 3 misdemeanor.
