(Las Vegas, Nevada) Yesterday, Wednesday evening, Two Honda Vehicles got hit by a Hyundai Sonata which led to a fatal death at the intersection of Desert Inn and Paradise Road.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police department confirmed that the collision occurred at 6:09 p.m. A 2017 Honda Accord stopped at the Desert Inn facing west. A Honda Civic traveling west, struck the Honda Accord behind the vehicle.

Hyundai Sonata drove around the Honda Accord and then struck another Honda vehicle while traveling westbound on the intersection. 

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department confirmed that the Honda Civic stopped southbound in Paradise. It continued through the intersection and that is when the Hyundai also struck the vehicle on the side. 

Emergency Medical Services arrived at the scene and took the Civic driver and Hyundai Sonata to the hospital where the Civic driver later died. The driver appeared to be impaired and was arrested for suspicion of a DUI. 

This case is still under investigation under the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Collision Investigation Section. 

Perspective of Desert Inn and Paradise Road 

This is a suspected DUI collision and impairment case. Investigators may focus on Driving Under The Influence of Alcohol Or a Prohibited Substance law to determine whether impairment and DUI were indeed involved for the driver.

In code NRS 484C.020 it states that it is unlawful for anyone to operate a vehicle with a 0.08% of blood alcohol concentration.  Under NRS 484C.080, The following is prohibited to use without prescription which is cocaine, Amphetamine, cocaine metabolite, heroine, heroine metabolite (morphine or 6-monoacetyle morphine), lysergic acid diethylamide, marijuana, marijuana metabolite, methamphetamine, phencyclidine. One of these causes could be the result of the Hyundai Sonata hitting the two Honda Vehicles that resulted in a fatal death.
