Sutter County, CA (June 10, 2024) A tragic, head-on collision occurred on Highway 113 in Sutter County on Sunday night, June 9th. A 19-year-old man lost his life and a 37-year-old woman was seriously injured in the accident. The accident occurred near Leiser Road in Robbins, which is located in Sutter County.

Initial reports indicated that the 19-year-old driver was headed north on Highway 113 when he ended up behind a slower vehicle. He attempted to pass the vehicle in front of him, but when he got into the opposite lane to pass, another vehicle was coming and the two automobiles collided, head-on. Both vehicles sustained major damage in the accident and ended up blocking the highway. Debris and glass were tossed in every direction.

Emergency personnel hurried to the scene and found the two destroyed vehicles in the middle of the highway. Paramedics rushed to see if anyone was injured and found both drivers with serious injuries. However, the 19-year-old man was unresponsive. Paramedics did everything they could do save him, but in the end, nothing could be done. With heavy hearts, they pronounced him dead at the scene. The female driver of the other vehicle, a Woodland resident, was alive but seriously injured. Officers called for a medical helicopter to come to the scene and take the woman to a hospital in Sacramento to receive treatment.

The California Highway Patrol investigated the scene and hoped to understand what happened to cause this deadly accident on Highway 113. Officers requested tow trucks to come to the scene and haul the damaged vehicles from the highway. Crews worked as quickly as they could to clean up all of the debris and glass that was left behind, following the collision.
