Sonoma County, CA (June 27, 2024) The community of Sonoma County was saddened to learn of a fatal accident that occurred on Tuesday, June 25th. A woman was killed in the head-on collision on Old River Road just minutes after 10:00 p.m., officers reported. It happened west of Martinelli Road and east of Guerneville.

The sun had set and darkness filled the sky as vehicles headed along Old River Road. A Chevrolet Sonic was driving west, near Marinelli Road. At the same time, a Toyota Sienna was traveling west on the same road. As the vehicles approached each other, one of them drifted into oncoming traffic. Officers reported that the two vehicles collided, head-on, at fairly high rates of speed.

Authorities received the 911 call and hurried to the scene near Guerneville. Upon arrival, they found the two vehicles in the middle of the roadway with major damage, surrounded by debris and glass. Officers with the California Highway Patrol checked the vehicles in an attempt to locate anyone with injuries. They found two people inside the Toyota with injuries as well as the driver of the Chevy. Paramedics arrived and transported all three to a local hospital to receive treatment for various injuries. However, the driver of the Toyota never made it to the hospital. She succumbed to her injuries in the ambulance and was pronounced dead, according to reports.
