San Jose, CA (April 29, 2024) A high speed chase through the streets of San Jose on Sunday afternoon left five innocent people injured. A Santa Clara County Sheriff’s car was in pursuit of a stolen vehicle when it hit an SUV, injuring four people. The suspect in the stolen car then hit another police cruiser, injuring the officer. This chaotic accident occurred at Commodore Drive and King Road in East San Jose.

It all started when a suspect stole a vehicle. Deputies with the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Department were chasing the stolen car through the streets of San Jose. They sped down Berryessa Road and North Capital Avenue. They would go around vehicles on the road, trying their hardest to keep up with the suspect. The driver simply refused to stop. Suddenly, right at 12:30 p.m., one of the deputies’ vehicles crashed into a Toyota SUV at the intersection of Commodore Drive and King Road.

The suspect continued down the road, until the stolen vehicle crashed into another deputies car after hitting spikes in the roadway. Officers descended on the suspect, who finally had no choice but to surrender. The 24-year-old was arrested at the scene. They face several charges, including possession of stolen property and evading a police officer. The officer in the vehicle sustained injuries during the collision, according to reports.

Paramedics arrived and evaluated those who were injured. The four occupants of the SUV were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. There is no word as to whether the officer was taken to a hospital for treatment. Crews had two messes to clean up as the road was covered with debris.
