Marina Del Rey, CA (July 25, 2024) A horrible and traumatic accident occurred in Marina Del Rey on Wednesday night, July 24th. A vehicle accident claimed one man’s life on the Marina (90) Freeway, officers said. The accident happened right around 11:26 p.m. in Culver City near the Slauson Avenue on-ramp.
An SUV headed east along the Marina (90) Freeway, late on Wednesday night, July 24th. Street lights illuminated parts of the dark roadway, along with headlights from vehicles, as motorists hurried along the freeway. Suddenly, a white pickup truck side-swiped the SUV, causing the driver to lose control, according to reports. The SUV continued at a high speed until it crashed into an electric pole, where it came to a stop.
The California Highway Patrol arrived at the scene and found the vehicle on the side of the road, near the pole, with major damage. The other vehicle involved was stopped on the side of the road, waiting for authorities to arrived, reports indicated. Officers hurried to both vehicles, ready to give medical aid to anyone in need, and found the driver of the SUV with fatal injuries. The Culver City Fire Department was called to the scene, as well and, with heavy hearts, pronounced the man dead at the scene.

This accident remains under investigation as officers try to determine what exactly happened on the Marina (90) Freeway that night. A tow truck was called to the scene to remove at least one vehicle from the freeway following the investigation. Crews then worked as quickly as they could to remove the debris that was left behind from the freeway.
