(Lancaster, CA) Reports were made on Wednesday 10:42 p.m., of a woman who was struck by a pick-up truck while in a motorized wheelchair.
The crash occurred at the intersection of 17th Street West and West Avenue. Witnesses say that the woman got dragged and ended up underneath the front of the pick-up truck.
She was taken to the Antelope Valley Medical Center and her injuries have not been made available.

In code (21950) (a) it states that drivers should yield the right-of-way to pedestrians crossing a roadway in any marked crosswalk or unmarked crosswalk at an intersection, except otherwise.

This code states the following, that a driver of a vehicle approaching a crosswalk/unmarked crosswalk should exercise care and reduce their speed or take any action in regards to operating a vehicle as necessary to safeguard the safety of the pedestrian.
If the pick-up trucker drove off without stopping after striking the pedestrian, investigators may want to look at code 20001 (a). This law requires drivers to stop at the scene in an accident involving in injuring or resulting in fatal death and follow what is required in code law 20003 and 20004.
If the driver did violate (a), then investigators may view the following punishments in (2)(a). This code law says that if one causes a serious injury, death, permanent injury mentioned in (a), may be sent to an imprisonment in state prison for two, three years, or even four years. They may also stay in a county jail for no more than ninety days. This may be what the driver can be charged with in regards to the female pedestrian getting hit by the pick-up truck in Lancaster.
