Fernley, NV (July 23, 2024) Details of a tragic traffic collision are slowly coming out of Fernley, a city in Lyon County that is part of the Reno-Tahoe-Sparks metropolitan area. 2 News Nevada reported the story around 6:30 p.m. last night, July 22.
Reports say that the crash occurred on US-50 near Inglewood Drive. All lanes were blocked by emergency vehicles, and drivers were asked to avoid the area.
Update (August 6): The driver has been identified as 29-year-old Sergion Aquino-Almanza of Fernley. A juvenile occupant of the car was taken to the hospital with “non-life-threatening injuries.”
Aquino-Almanza was reportedly driving a silver 2018 Hyundai Tucson west on US-50A when his car left the roadway, entered the right dirt shoulder, and crashed into a light pole.
The vehicle then rolled multiple times and ejected Aquino-Almanza, who was not wearing a seatbelt.
