(Los Angeles, CA) One person was killed early Tuesday morning, November 4, in an Eastbound 10 Freeway accident involving a food truck and another vehicle that erupted into flames near Jefferson Park, authorities said.
According to Officer Elizabeth Kravig of the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported around 2:15 a.m. on the eastbound Santa Monica Freeway, just south of Crenshaw Boulevard. Investigators said a food truck collided with another vehicle. As a result, the car became trapped underneath as both caught fire.
When Los Angeles Fire Department crews arrived, they found both cars on fire, working to extinguish the blaze. After putting out the fire, paramedics pronounced one person, a man, dead at the scene.
Paramedics transported a 32-year-old man from one of the vehicles to a local hospital. According to LAFD spokeswoman Lyndsey Lantz, his condition was not immediately known. Three lanes of the eastbound freeway and the Arlington Avenue exit were closed following the crash, and a SigAlert issued at 2:45 a.m. remained in effect for several hours before one lane reopened at 6:45 a.m.
