Castro Valley, CA (April 30, 2024) A tragic accident claimed a boy’s life on Monday afternoon, April 29th, when the vehicle he was in crashed. The fatal accident occurred at approximately 4:20 p.m. near the 4.3 mile marker on Palomares Road. The single-vehicle collision caused the vehicle to flip and hit a tree, reports indicated.

A black Honda Accord was heading north on Palomares Road, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Jennifer Pabst. Suddenly, the driver of the Honda lost control and the car swerved off the roadway and onto the shoulder. It slammed into a power pole and the force caused the vehicle to flip. It finally hit a tree before finally coming to a stop.

The California Highway Patrol arrived at the scene and found the black Honda flipped against a tree. They hurried to the vehicle to see if anyone had been injured. They found the passenger, a boy, unresponsive. Officers began life-saving treatment, but the boy had sustained fatal injuries in the accident. With heavy hearts, officers pronounced the boy dead at the scene.

The driver was still alive, but had sustained serious injuries in the crash. Paramedics arrived at the scene and quickly transferred the driver onto a stretcher and loaded them into the ambulance. They were rushed to a local hospital to receive emergency treatment.

Officers investigated the accident and gathered evidence at the scene. A tow truck had to be called to remove the car from the scene and debris had to be cleared from the area. Anyone with any information regarding this fatal accident is encouraged to call the California Highway Patrol Hayward area office at 510-489-1500.
