Monterey County, CA (September 27, 2024) Several vehicles were involved in a collision on Highway 68 in Monterey County on Thursday morning, September 26th. It all happened at approximately 7:45 a.m., not far from Reservation Road, according to police reports. One person sustained injuries in this accident that involved at least three vehicles.
The morning commute was well on its way in Monterey County, as vehicles traveled along Highway 68. For reasons that remain unknown, at least three vehicles on Highway 68 suddenly collided. The vehicles came to a stop in the middle of the road, blocking traffic. Debris was thrown in every direction, also posing a traffic hazard for motorists.
Officers with the California Highway Patrol received the call and arrived at the scene. They found the vehicles, all damaged, blocking part of the highway. Some of the officers began directing traffic away from the scene, while others checked the vehicles for anyone who had been injured. At least one person was found with non-life-threatening injuries. At this time, it is unknown if the victim was transported to a hospital or treated at the scene.
Officers gathered evidence and took statements before tow trucks began removing the damaged vehicles from the highway. Crews worked to remove the debris from the roadway, as well, so traffic could resume normally.
