Fresno County, CA (September 5, 2024) Selma resident, Alionso Jimenez Perez, 72, was killed on Monday night, September 2nd, 2024, in a tractor collision. It happened at approximately 8:15 p.m. when a pickup truck slammed into the back of Perez’s tractor as he drove it down Floral Avenue.
A Toyota Tacoma pickup truck was heading east on Floral Avenue in Fresno County, when it came up behind the tractor, driven by Perez. Suddenly, the pickup slammed into the back of the tractor. The impact ejected Perez from the tractor, officers reported. He landed on the dirt shoulder of the roadway and sustained serious injuries. The driver of the pickup immediately stopped and called 911 while checking on Perez.

Sirens filled the air as emergency crews arrived at the scene. They found the tractor and the pickup on the shoulder of the road before seeing Perez on the ground. They rushed to his side, ready to give him life-saving treatment, if necessary. Paramedics rushed Perez to a nearby hospital to receive emergency treatment for life-threatening injuries. Sadly, he later succumbed to those injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Officers are working to better understand what caused this accident in the first place. However, they do not believe that drugs or alcohol played a role in this collision in Fresno County.
