Las Vegas, NV (April 4, 2024) A tragic accident involving five vehicles, one of which fled the scene, claimed the lives of two teenagers in early March. 17-year-old Jovan Barrios and 16-year-old David gomez-Majarro were both killed in this horrible collision. The fatal accident took place near the intersection of Pyramid Drive and Vegas Drive, not far from Rancho Road. The accident occurred just after 10:00 p.m.

Initial reports indicated that a Ford Crown Victoria, driven by Gomez-Majarro, with Barrios as a passenger, and a 2015 Acura TLX were both traveling at high speeds on eastbound Vegas Drive. A Nissan Frontier was turning left onto westbound Vegas Drive as the two other vehicles approached the intersection. As the Nissan turned, it struck the Acura, causing it to slam into the right side of the Ford. The force from the impact caused the Ford to go off the road and crash into a light pole. where it finally stopped. The impact from the collision was so strong that debris flew into the air and landed on two parked cars. The Acura TLX didn’t stop, but instead, continued speeding down Vegas Drive, according to officers.

911 calls were received around 10:10 on March 1st, regarding an accident near Rancho Road. Paramedics arrived at the scene and ran to the Ford to give aid to those who were injured. Sadly, they discovered that the two teenage boys had been killed in the collision. With heavy hearts, they pronounced them dead at the scene and waited for the coroner to arrive.

Over a month later, on April 3rd, police officers located the Acura TLX and its driver, 26-year-old Jacob Ybarra. He was placed under arrest and faces two counts of failure to stop at the scene of a crash as well as two counts of reckless driving resulting in death, according to law enforcement. He was booked into the Clark County Detention Center.
