San Diego, CA (September 5, 2024) An erratic driver in San Diego caused a collision that resulted in injuries on Wednesday, September 4th, 2024. The erratic driver lost control and crashed into another vehicle on the 163 Freeway, according to reports. It happened at approximately 3:18 p.m. and left two people injured.
Video of the erratic driver was posted to X on Wednesday, showing the vehicle unsafely heading through San Diego. The Subara first side-swiped a semi-truck, according to reports, before continuing along the freeway at a high speed. The Subaru takes the 163 south on-ramp before losing control again and crashing into a Ford SUV. The Subaru then rolled before coming to a stop, not far from the Genesee Avenue exit.
First responders arrived at the scene and found the two damaged vehicles on the freeway. They found both drivers with significant injuries, reports indicated. Paramedics transported both drivers to a local hospital, but the extent of their injuries is unclear.

Officers investigated the scene and took statements before tow trucks removed the damaged vehicles from the freeway, officers reported. Crews worked to clear the debris from the freeway, as well. Officers are trying to understand why the Subaru was driving erratically to begin with and why, exactly, it caused this collision. At this time, they do not suspect intoxication to be a factor in this collision.
