Escondido, CA (May 23, 2024) A tragic rollover accident occurred in Escondido on Tuesday, May 21st, claiming one person’s life and injuring another. The California Highway Patrol reported that the accident occurred right at 6:30 a.m. on the 15 Freeway. Two vehicles collided, causing one of them to roll multiple times, near Deer Springs Road.

A 19-year-old male was driving a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck along the 15 Freeway when, for reasons unknown, it collided with a Ford F-150 in the northbound lanes. The force from the impact caused the Silverado to roll over several times before coming to a stop on the right-hand shoulder. Officers reported that the Ford pickup spun out and then swerved toward the center divider before coming to a stop.

The passenger in the Chevy Silverado, a 19-year-old woman, was seriously injured in the accident, but is expected to make a full recovery. She was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Ford pickup was uninjured in the collision, according to reports. Update: On Tuesday, June 25, it was reported that the young man was named Brian Ray Gonzales. He was from Temecula.

Investigators are still working to learn what exactly happened to cause this collision on the 15 Freeway in Escondido. At this time, they do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors in this collision.
