Las Vegas, NV (June 34, 2024) A two-vehicle collision in Las Vegas left a 13-year-old critically injured on Friday, June 21st. The collision also left three other people with less serious injuries, according to reports. It all happened at the intersection of Owens Avenue and Main Street right around 3:45 p.m.

A 1994 Honda Civic was heading east on Owens Avenue on Friday afternoon, when they attempted to turn left on Main Street. At the same time, a Nissan Altima was heading west on Owens Avenue. Suddenly, the driver of the Honda made the turn directly in the past of the oncoming Nissan. The driver of the Nissan had no time to react and slammed into the side of the Honda.

The North Las Vegas Police Department arrived at the scene and found the two damaged vehicles in the middle of the westbound lanes. Officers had to divert traffic away from the scene and closed a section of the roadway. Paramedics arrived at the scene and found four injured people, following the collision. One of them, a 13-year-old child, had sustained critical injuries in the accident. The juvenile was a passenger in the Honda Civic, reports indicated. They were rushed to UMC Peds to receive immediate emergency care where they remain in serious condition.

The driver of the Honda, as well as a second passenger were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries, according to reports. The driver of the Nissan also sustained minor injuries in the collision and was transported to a hospital. All three will make a full recovery, officers said.

The North Las Vegas Police Department Bureau’s Major Collision Investigation Unit is leading the investigation into this two-vehicle crash. They arrived at the scene and began gathering evidence, as well as taking statements from witnesses. Officers determined that neither driver had been under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the accident. Tow trucks arrived at the scene, following the initial investigation, and hauled the damaged vehicles from the intersection. The roadway remained closed for hours, according to reports.
