Los Angeles, CA (July 6, 2024) The community of Los Angeles is grieving today as news of a 12-year-old’s death spreads. The child was killed in a three-vehicle collision that left 9 other people with injuries, officers reported. Three of those injured were also children. It happened on East Century Boulevard, not far from Avalon Boulevard, right around 6:15 p.m.

It was Friday evening, July 5th, in Los Angeles when three vehicles collided on East Century Boulevard, near Avalon Boulevard. The vehicles had been traveling through the Green Meadows neighborhood when, for reasons that are still unknown, they collided near 630 East Century Boulevard. The accident left three vehicles with serious damage as the 911 calls began.

The Los Angeles Fire Department rushed to the scene. In all, about 5 fire trucks and at least two ambulances were seen at the scene. Reports indicated that one of the drivers, a female, was trapped inside her vehicle and had to be extricated. Firefighters used special tools to cut the victim free, reports indicated. Firefighters found a total of 6 adult and 3 children with injuries, following this collision. Another child, a 12-year-old girl, was unresponsive when emergency personnel arrived. They did everything they could to save her, but sadly, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

A canopy was placed over the child’s body at the scene as crews worked to help those who had been injured. The three injured children were loaded into ambulances and transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Five of the injured adults were taken to a hospital as well, according to reports. Everyone is expected to make a full recovery.

Officers are still not sure what caused this fatal collision in Los Angeles. They are working diligently to piece together what caused this three-vehicle accident, as well as who was responsible. Tow trucks were called to remove damaged vehicles once officers had finished investigating the scene. Crews then worked to clean up the glass and debris that was left behind.
