Atascadero, CA (August 7, 2024) One person was tragically killed in a fiery collision in Atascadero on Saturday night, August 3rd. It all happened on Highway 41 around 8:30 p.m. when vehicles collided near Old Morro Road. One of the vehicles went up in flames, causing the grass and area around the vehicles to catch fire as well, claiming a man’s life.

For reasons that remain unknown, the vehicle seemed to lose control while driving along Highway 41, and veer off the roadway, around 8:30 p.m.. At this point in the investigation, it has not been disclosed if the vehicles rolled or crashed into something. Officers are still not certain what exactly happened. They do know that the vehicle caught on fire, following the initial accident.

The Atascadero Police Department arrived at the scene to find the vehicle engulfed in flames. The vegetation surrounding the vehicle was also burning, according to reports. Officers were helpless until firefighters extinguished the flames. Once the fire was completely put out, paramedics hurried to the vehicle. Sadly, the sole occupant had not survived the accident. The victim, identified only as a man, was pronounced dead at the scene, officers reported.
