Auburn, CA (May 31, 2024) A collision between a Placer Public Transit bus and another vehicle left several people with injuries on Wednesday afternoon, May 29th. The accident took place in Auburn on Grass Valley Highway, not far from Palm Avenue, according to reports. The bus collided with the vehicle at approximately 6:15 p.m. and was left overturned.

Many people use the Placer Public Transit bus in Auburn to get wherever they need to go. However, on the evening of Wednesday, May 29th, many did not reach their destinations. The bus collided, head-on, with another vehicle on Grass Valley Highway. The cause of this accident is still a mystery, but officers are working to figure out what happened. The force from the collision caused the bus to flip over onto its side.

Police officers and paramedics arrived at the scene within minutes and found the bus on its side in the middle of the highway. Officers had to close the highway from Palm Avenue to Nevada Street and redirect traffic away from the area. Paramedics found several people on the bus with significant injuries. The exact number of people who were injured has not been released, but paramedics transported several to local hospitals to receive treatment.

Officers gathered evidence from the scene and spoke to witnesses. They are determined to figure out what exactly happened to cause this head-on collision on State Route 20 in Auburn. Teams worked to get the bus back on its wheels and had it towed from the scene. The other vehicle was also badly damaged and had to be towed, although whether or not its driver was injured has not been disclosed. Once the vehicles were removed and the glass and debris had been cleaned up, the highway was reopened to motorists once again.
