South Los Angeles, CA (September 6, 2024) A multi-vehicle collision occurred on Sunday, September 1st, 2024, that involved a Metro Bus in South Los Angeles. The collision left one person with injuries and created chaos at the scene. It happened around 11:30 p.m. at the intersection of Century Boulevard and Figueroa Street.
The intersection was illuminated by street lights and headlights as vehicles crossed. A sedan attempted a left turn at the intersection and slammed into another vehicle, according to reports. The force from the sedan’s impact pushed the other vehicle into the path of a Metro Bus. The bus crashed into the car and pushed it several feet down the street before they both came to a stop. All three damaged vehicles remained in the middle of the intersection, causing traffic delays, reports indicated.
Officers with the Los Angeles Police Department arrived at the scene and found the three damaged vehicles. They quickly began checking occupants, ready to give medical aid to anyone in need. It seemed that everyone on the bus was uninjured, officers reported. However, one person in one of the other vehicles sustained significant injuries in the collision. Paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital to receive emergency treatment. The extent of the victim’s injuries remains unknown at this time.

Following the investigation at the scene, a tow truck arrived to remove at least one of the damaged vehicles from the intersection. Officers are working to determine what exactly happened at the South Los Angeles intersection.
