It was just before 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 24th, as a Metro Bus headed along the streets of Compton, toward the intersection of San Pedro Street and Rosecrans Avenue. Suddenly, as it entered the intersection, it collided with another vehicle, according to reports. The accident left the bus and the other vehicle in the middle of the intersection, blocking traffic. Witnesses said that debris went all over the roadway, as well.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department arrived at the scene and quickly evaluated everyone. No one was in the bus except the driver, who sustained minor injuries. They were taken to the hospital for treatment.
The vehicle the bus collided with, a Hyundai, held four passengers. They all had serious injuries, officers reported. Paramedics rushed them to a local hospital. Tragically, one of these passengers was a 9-year-old boy, and he succumbed to his injuries. As of the latest report, it’s not clear what condition the other passengers are in. Reports say that they are all women, ages 41, 40, and 35.
