LODI, CA (NOVEMBER 24, 2023): A man was tragically struck and killed while riding his bicycle in the area of Highway 12 near Lodi earlier this week.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred on Thursday, November 23rd in the area of Highway 12 and Interstate 5 just before 5 p.m. Reports indicate the male bicyclist was riding in the area before he was struck and hit by a vehicle under unclear circumstances.

Emergency personnel arrived to the scene shortly after, and discovered the man in critical condition. Despite administering first-aid on the scene, the man unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver remained at the scene. It remains unclear if he or she was injured in this incident.
A preliminary investigation was then started on the roadway, closing the westbound lanes of I-5 for nearly two hours. They have since been reopened.
Information regarding this event remains limited. Authorities are unsure if drugs or alcohol were contributing factors to this incident. The California Highway Patrol will continue to investigate this bicycle crash on Highway 12 near Lodi.
