(National City, CA) A bicyclist died in an Interstate 5 Freeway crash by the South Bay in National City.
On Wednesday, August 6, at about 1 a.m., the Interstate 5 Freeway crash occurred. According to the California Highway Patrol, it happened on the freeway, just south of Mile of Cars.
When CHP officers investigated, they learned an unidentified man rode a bicycle on the southbound lanes of the 5 Freeway. All of a sudden, a BMW X3 struck the cyclist.
When first responders arrived, they pronounced the man dead at the Interstate 5 Freeway crash site. The driver of the BMW remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Authorities stated that neither alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.
