Wilmington, CA (April 12, 2024) Tragedy struck the community of Wilmington on Thursday night, April 11th, when a 28-year-old bicyclist, Junior Valle, was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver. The collision happened at approximately 8:45 p.m. at the intersection of West G Street and Wilmington Boulevard, officers said.
Valle was riding a bicycle in Wilmington on Thursday night as vehicles passed him. Suddenly, as he approached the intersection of West G Street and Wilmington Boulevard, an approaching vehicle struck him. The force from the impact threw Valle from his bicycle, where he landed on the ground several feet away. The bicycle fell to the ground, dented and damaged, as the vehicle continued driving. Junior Valle was left alone with life-threatening injuries, according to reports.
The 911 call came in and the Los Angeles Police Department rushed to the scene. They arrived at the scene and found only the bicycle and its rider, both on the ground. It was obvious that the bicyclist had been hit by a car, but there was no car to be found. Paramedics rushed to Valle’s side, ready to give life-saving measures, but found that his injuries were too severe. With heavy hearts, they pronounced Junior Valle dead at the scene.
Officers gathered as much evidence as they could find from the scene and are determined to figure out what type of vehicle struck Valle while he was on his bicycle. They are determined to find the driver and bring him or her to justice for this deadly hit-and-run accident.
