Richmond, CA (October 16, 2024) A tragic accident occurred in the city of Richmond on Monday morning, October 14th, 2024, leaving the community in shock. It was just after 5:00 a.m. when the driver of an Infinity G35 coupe crashed into a bank on Canal Boulevard. The collision claimed the life of a 14-year-old girl and left her sister, 11, with life-threatening injuries.
It was still dark outside as an Infinity G35 Coupe headed north on Canal Boulevard in Richmond, at a high rate of speed. Suddenly the driver of the vehicle lost control and went off the roadway. The vehicle crashed into two trees on the side of the road before hitting a pole on the east side of the road. Unfortunately, a 14-year-old girl in the vehicle was ejected during the collision. Two 15-year-old boys inside the vehicle suddenly got out and ran away on foot, according to reports.
First responders arrived at the scene and found the vehicle still running, though badly damaged. They hurried to the Infinity to see if anyone was in need of medical attention. They found the 14-year-old girl with fatal injuries. With heavy hearts they pronounced her dead at the scene. Inside the vehicle was an 11-year-old girl. She was alive, but had sustained life-threatening injuries in the collision. She was rushed to a nearby hospital to receive immediate medical attention and remains in critical condition.
Reports indicated that officers located one of the 15-year-old boys at a hospital and the other was found at their home later that day. However, officers said they are still investigating this collision because there are a lot of questions regarding this fatal accident in Richmond. Officers have reported that they are working to determine which juvenile male was driving the vehicle at the time of the collision.
