Van Nuys, CA (September 9. 2024) A tragic motorcycle accident claimed a rider’s life on Sunday night, September 8th, 2024. Reports indicated that the accident occurred around 11:12 p.m. at the intersection of Ranchito Avenue and Sherman Way.

It was nearing midnight on Sunday, Sept. 8th, as an SUV and a motorcycle both headed the same way, on the same stretch of road, in Van Nuys. The SUV suddenly made a U-turn at the intersection. For reasons that remain under investigation, the motorcycle slammed into the driver’s side of the SUV as it attempted the U-turn. The impact threw the rider from the motorcycle and caused them to land in the middle of the roadway.

The Los Angeles Police Department arrived at the scene and found the rider on the ground, unresponsive. Firefighters arrived and began CPR on the victim. They did everything within their power to save the motorcyclist, but sadly, the victim’s injuries were too severe. Firefighters pronounced the rider dead at the scene and requested a coroner. City News Service reported that video of the scene showed the SUV with heavy damage to its driver’s side door. The impact was so severe that the motorcycle was left as a mangled and twisted piece of metal.
