Berkeley, CA (September 6, 2024) The victim of a pedestrian crash in Berkeley was identified this week as Charles Gerald Nelson, an 82-year-old from El Cerrito. The tragic incident took place on August 1.
According to reports, the crash occurred at 3:40 a.m. near Ashby Ave. in the westbound lanes of Interstate Highway 80. For unknown reasons, Nelson was struck by a semi-trailer. The motorist stopped at the scene, and California Highway Patrol did not determine them to be intoxicated.
