Los Altos, CA (August 31, 2024) Two vehicles collided in Los Altos on Friday morning, August 30th, 2024, leaving one person with injuries. Officers reported that the collision happened right around 8:49 a.m., on State Route 85, not far from the Fremont Avenue on-ramp.
A gray Toyota RAV4 SUV was traveling in the northbound lanes of the SR-85 when it somehow collided with a white Toyota Corolla sedan. The cause of this collision is still a mystery, but reports indicated that the sedan went 20 feet off the roadway and slammed into the embankment.

Emergency crews arrived at the scene and found the sedan in an embankment. Officers made their way to the car and found one person inside with injuries. However, it is unknown if they were taken to a local hospital or treated at the scene. Reports suggest that the victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The RAV4 was still sitting at the traffic light where the collision took place, but no injuries were reported from occupants in the vehicle.
Officers began gathering evidence and took statements from those at the scene who witnessed the accident. They are working to determine not only what caused this collision, but who was at fault. Tow trucks were seen removing both of the vehicles from the roadway, according to reports. Debris had to be removed from the highway, as well, before traffic could resume normally.
