Klamath, CA (August 27, 2024) Two vehicles collided on Highway 101 in Klamath on Friday afternoon, August 23rd, leaving passengers trapped inside their vehicle. The accident occurred just before 3:00 p.m. on a stretch of highway known as the Redwood Highway in Del Norte County.
According to reports, a Dodge Caravan and a red Toyota Tacoma were approaching each other on Highway 101 on a summer afternoon in August. As the two continued along the Klamath highway, they suddenly collided, head-on. The impact caused the Toyota to lose a tire and everyone inside the Dodge could not get out, officers reported. The two badly damaged vehicles blocked the roadway and left a massive field of debris and glass, which caused serious hazards in both lanes of Highway 101.

First responders with the California Highway Patrol arrived at the scene and found the two vehicles along with the chaos left behind by the accident. They quickly worked to free the occupants of the Dodge Caravan and checked to see if anyone inside either vehicle had sustained injuries. While the details are still incomplete, reports indicated that at least one person was taken to a nearby hospital, via ambulance, to receive treatment for injuries.
