Tracy, CA (August 21, 2024) Two people sustained injuries in a collision on Interstate 205 in Tracy on Monday night, August 19th. The accident occurred in San Joaquin County, not far from El Rancho Road, officers reported. It happened in a construction zone between a car and a bucket truck at approximately 10:30 p.m.

As vehicles drove along westbound Interstate 205 on Monday night, August 19th, 2024, a car attempted to change lanes within an active construction zone. As it did, in the darkness of night, it collided with a bucket truck that was parked in the construction zone, according to police reports. The came to a stop in the middle of the westbound freeway lanes, reports indicated.

Emergency crews hurried to the scene, their flashing lights filling up the dark night sky, and found the two damaged vehicles in the construction zone. Officers found a worker inside the bucket truck with serious injuries and requested an ambulance at the scene. The worker was taken to a local hospital to receive treatment for major injuries, officers said. The driver of the car was also found injured. They were also transported to a hospital with moderate injuries.

Officers began gathering evidence at the scene and also took statements. They have determined that drugs and alcohol did not play a role in this collision. However, they are still working to understand exactly what happened to cause this accident on Interstate 205 in Tracy.
