Las Vegas, NV (August 20, 2024) On Saturday, August 17, a fatal crash took place in south Las Vegas valley.
LVMPD received word about a crash that night around 12 a.m. They reported that a Nissan Rogue was heading northbound in the right lane on Las Vegas Boulevard as a Jeep Grand Cherokee was heading southbound in the left-turn lane. Both motorists were approaching Pyle Avenue when the Jeep driver failed to yield and collided with the right side of the Nissan.
The Jeep driver sustained minor injuries and showed signs of impairment, according to LVMPD. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI resulting in death and booked into the Clark County Detention Center.
The Nissan driver, 65-year-old Ernest Johnson, sustained life-threatening injuries. He was tragically pronounced dead at the hospital.
