Las Vegas, NV (August 12, 2024) A tragic accident occurred in the northeast Las Vegas Valley on Sunday morning, August 11th, 2024. A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle on State Route 604, right around 4 o’clock in the morning, officers reported. The deadly accident happened near the Las Vegas Speedway.
The sun had yet to rise over Las Vegas as a man walked through the northeast valley. As he walked along State Route 604, a vehicle approached, according to reports. Right around 4:00 a.m., for reasons that are still unknown, the vehicle struck the pedestrian. The force knocked the pedestrian to the ground, causing fatal injuries. The driver of the vehicle immediately stopped and called 911, reports indicated.
Nevada State Police arrived at the scene and found the pedestrian on the ground, motionless. They quickly ran to the victim’s side and began life-saving measures. Sadly, nothing could be done and the pedestrian had been killed in the accident. Authorities pronounced the man dead at the scene.
Officers questioned the driver of the vehicle and are working to determine what happened on SR-604 that morning, near the Las Vegas Speedway. Officers have determined that the driver of the vehicle was not intoxicated at the time of the accident. This investigation is ongoing, officers reported.
