Vallejo, CA (August 7, 2024) A two-vehicle collision on Interstate 80 in Vallejo took place on Wednesday morning, August 7th, claiming one person’s life. Officers said the accident occurred near the American Canyon Road off-ramp and caused both vehicles to overturn.
Interstate 80 was running smoothly on Wednesday morning as people began their morning commutes. Suddenly, two vehicles in the westbound lanes collided near American Canyon Road. The impact caused both of the vehicles to rollover, according to reports. People slammed on their brakes to avoid the collision and debris was flung all over the interstate. Dispatchers began receiving calls about the accident mere moments after it occurred.

The California Highway Patrol arrived at the scene and found both vehicles overturned in the westbound lanes. They hurried to the vehicles and checked on everyone inside, ready to give life-saving treatment. Tragically, they found one person unresponsive, officers reported. They did everything they could to save the victim, but their injuries were too severe. They succumbed to their injuries at the scene and were, sadly, pronounced dead by authorities.
Officers had to close two of Interstate 80’s westbound lanes in the area, directly vehicles away from the scene. Tow trucks were called to remove the two badly damaged vehicles once officers finished investigating the scene. Crews worked as quickly as they could to clean up the glass and debris from the roadway. Officers are still working on this case in an effort to not only understand what happened, but also to determine who was at fault.
