Victorville, CA (August 5, 2024) A pedestrian sustained life-threatening injuries on Friday night, August 2nd, and was airlifted following the accident. Reports indicated that the victim was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of D Street and Sixth Street in Old Town Victorville, just after 9:00 p.m.

A woman was crossing the street at the intersection of D Street and Sixth Street in Old Town Victorville on Friday night, August 2nd. It was just after 9:00 p.m. and street lights illuminated the dark intersection, as the woman crossed. A silver Honda sedan approached the intersection and didn’t see the victim until it was too late. The vehicle struck the woman, sending her flying over the hood of the Honda and smashing into the windshield, shattering it. She was then tossed on the ground with so much force that she rolled, reports indicated. She finally stopped in the middle of the roadway and remained motionless.

The driver of the Honda immediately stopped and called 911, officers reported. Eventually, the sirens could be heard in the distance and then the flashing lights grew brighter until emergency personnel stopped at the scene. Paramedics with the Victorville City Fire Department hurried to the pedestrian and began life-saving treatment. Reports indicated that they requested a medical helicopter. Paramedics rushed the victim to Victor Valley Global Medical Center where a medical helicopter was waiting. She was then airlifted to a trauma center that out-of-area, officers reported.

Officers had to close D Street as they investigated the scene and took statements from witnesses, as well as the man who was involved. A tow truck was requested to the scene to haul the damaged Honda away as evidence, according to reports. Crews picked up the debris and clothing left behind by their victim, including a shoe. Officers are working to understand what exactly happened at that Victorville intersection on the night of August 2nd.
