Calistoga, CA (July 30, 2024) The community of Calistoga was shocked as news spread of a pedestrian struck by a police cruise. The accident occurred on Monday evening, July 29th, at approximately 7:00 p.m. The police cruiser hit the 22-year-old woman at the intersection of Washington and Berry, near Highway 29. The pedestrian was seriously injured, officers reported.
It was Monday evening in Calistoga as a police cruiser approached the intersection of Washington and Berry. Suddenly, the cruiser hit a pedestrian who was walking in the street. The force threw the pedestrian several feet where she landed in the middle of the roadway. The officer immediately stopped and called for help at the scene.

Commander Mike McClellin with the California Highway Patrol stated that they believe the woman was walking within a designated crosswalk at the time of the accident. He told news outlets that they are trying to confirm that. He also said he is looking into what exactly happened and wants to know what the officer was doing before he struck the pedestrian.
Paramedics transported the woman to a local hospital to receive treatment for a head trauma and other injuries, officers reported. McClellin said they are investigating this accident “to make sure we have a fair and independent analysis to determine the facts of the case.”
