    Pedestrian Killed In San Jacinto Hit-And-Run; Suspect Arrested

    San Jacinto, CA (July 28, 2024) A deadly hit-and-run collision occurred in San Jacinto on Saturday evening, July 27th, 2024. The accident claimed a pedestrian’s life on State Street, not far from Esplanade Avenue, according to reports. The Riverside County collision happened just after 5:00 p.m. and offers found and arrested the person responsible.

    It was just after 5:00 p.m. in San Jacinto as a pedestrian walked along State Street. As they walked, a white 2015 Chevrolet Camaro approached them. Without any warning, the vehicle struck the pedestrian, throwing the victim through the air. The driver didn’t stop to call for help, but instead hit the gas and fled the scene, according to reports. The pedestrian landed, hard, on the shoulder of the road.

    Officers arrived at the scene and found the victim on the shoulder of the roadway with life-threatening injuries. They quickly began life-saving treatment on the victim, but their injuries were too severe. They eventually succumbed to them and was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers placed a tarp over the victim and requested a coroner at the scene. It was obvious the victim had been struck by a vehicle that fled the scene, reports indicated.

    Update: The victim of this tragic collision has been identified as Michael Mitchell (53) of Hemet.

    Detectives began gathering any evidence they could find to help them track down the driver responsible. The evidence led them to 33-year-old Darell Davis from Moreno Valley. They found the vehicle and stopped it, arrested Davis, officers reported. He was booked into jail and faces felony hit-and-run charges, according to reports.
