Oakland, CA (July 21, 2024) A 22-year-old woman who had just been shopping in a boutique, stepped outside and screamed before she was struck by a vehicle, according to reports. One person inside the vehicle fled the scene on foot. The vehicle also slammed into the boutique, officers reported. This chaotic and frightening scene unfolded at the intersection of Foothill Boulevard and Fruitvale Avenue, right around 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 20th.
It all started with Daly City police officers pursuing a suspect in a gray Lexus. The chase continued until the driver of the Lexus lost control and crashed into a boutique at the intersection of Foothill Boulevard and Fruitvale Avenue. Before the vehicle slammed into the building, it struck a 22-year-old female pedestrian who had just walked out of the boutique, according to reports. Witnesses told officers that the pedestrian went up in the air before falling, hard, on the ground. Following the accident, one of the vehicle’s occupants got out of the car and fled on foot, reports indicated.
Officers immediately apprehended the other occupant inside the Lexus and placed them under arrest at the scene. The Lexus had also hit one of the Daly City Police Department SUVs in the pursuit, according to reports. A tow truck had to haul both the SUV and the Lexus from the scene. Paramedics at the scene quickly loaded the pedestrian into an ambulance and took her to a local hospital to receive emergency care for her injuries. Officers are still working to locate the suspect who fled on foot, according to reports.
