Gardena, CA (July 13, 2024) Two vehicles collided on Friday afternoon on the Interstate 405 Freeway, leaving at least one person with injuries, reports indicated. It all transpired around 3:30 p.m. in Gardena on July 12th. The accident, which happened near the Normandie Avenue off-ramp, caused one vehicle to overturn, according to police reports.
Two white SUVs were traveling along Interstate 405 on Friday afternoon when they suddenly collided. The force from the impact sent one of the SUVs overturning in the middle of the roadway, according to reports. Witnesses said the vehicle rolled multiple times before it finally came to a stop on its roof. The damaged vehicles blocked traffic lanes and caused significant back ups for motorists on the interstate.
The California Highway Patrol was the first to arrive at the scene and found the two vehicles with major damage in the middle of the freeway. Paramedics arrived and found at least one person with injuries, reports indicated. They were placed on a stretcher and loaded into an ambulance before being taken to a local hospital to receive treatment. At this time, the extent of injuries remains unknown.
Officers began investigating the scene in an effort to understand what exactly happened on Interstate 405. They requested tow trucks to come and remove both vehicles from the interstate and crews worked as fast as possible to clear debris and glass from the roadway so motorists could resume driving.
