Valley Glen, CA (July 2nd 2024) A chaotic and fiery collision involving four vehicles occurred in Valley Glen on Monday evening, July 1st. The chain-of-reaction collision occurred on Sherman Way, not far from Ethel Avenue, reports indicated. It happened around 8:15 p.m. and left two people with injuries, Brian Humphrey, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Fire Department, reported.

A vehicle was parked at the curb in the 13100 block of Sherman Way on Monday evening. At approximately 8:15 p.m., a vehicle cam driving down the street and crashed into the back of the parked vehicle. The vehicle that hit the parked car immediately caught on fire, following the collision. Somehow, two other vehicles were involved in this collision as well, but officers are still not sure what exactly happened.

The Los Angeles Fire Department arrived at the scene and found the at fault vehicle completely engulfed in flames. The vehicle had two occupants, a driver and a passenger, and both had managed to get out of the vehicle before it had burst into flames, officers reported. The flames had spread to the vehicle that had been rear-ended as well, according to firefighters. They quickly began putting out the flames and evaluated the two people who had been injured in the accident. One of the men sustained life-threatening injuries and was rushed to a local hospital. He remains in critical condition. The second victim was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to make a full recovery, according to reports.

Officers with the Los Angeles Police Department Valley Traffic Division are investigating this collision. They are working to understand what caused this collision in Valley Glen. Tow trucks had to come to the scene and remove the two burned cars from the roadway and crews had to clean up debris, glass and charred pieces from the scene.
