Thousand Palms, CA (June 25, 2024) A shocking crime was committed on Sunday at about 1:30 p.m. A 30-year-old ran over a man in Thousand Palms, and authorities think he did it intentionally.
The victim was 48-year-old Robert Ernest Rodriguez from Desert Hot Springs. He was apparently riding a motorcycle when the suspect, Erick Robert Cowdery of Palm Desert, tragically ran him over. Bystanders were brave enough to restrain Cowdery when he tried to flee the scene of the crime.
They held him until police arrived, and Cowdery was promptly booked into the John Benoit Detention Center on suspicion of murder. Reports say he has been scheduled to appear in court at the Larson Justice Center in Indio this Wednesday.
